Otoplasty - Prominent Ear Operation
Ears are positioned in certain angles in proportion to the face. Protruding ear, also known as prominent ear, is the case when ears are positioned in larger angles.
Otoplasty aims at correcting the aesthetic look of the ears when they are positioned at larger angles and the upper part of the ear has not developed the natural curves. In order to deliver a natural look on the ears, the surgeon applying the protruding ear correction operation makes an incision behind the ear. The incision is used to bring the ears closer to the head and does not leave any scar marks. Depending on the case, the operation may be carried out under local or general anaesthesia. Since the aim is to achieve natural looking ears, the surgeon operates on the ears as a component of the entire head rather than focusing on the ears in isolation. For this, it is very important to consider the shape and positioning of the other parts of the face, particularly the nose. Otoplasty operation lasts 1-1,5 hours and patients are discharged on the same day. Otoplasty requires precision and, therefore, we only work with experienced ear, nose, and throat specialists and plastic surgery experts.
